Midway’s own Aaron Wilkerson grabbed his first Double-A win of the season, and it was a gem.

Wilkerson hurled seven innings of one-run baseball for the Portland Sea Dogs, allowing only four hits and striking out four.

It comes on the heels of two performances for Boston’s Double-A squad in which he allowed five and four runs, respectively. Wilkerson dropped his ERA 2.5 points with the victory, running his 2015 minor league win total to eight, mixing in three losses.

Ex-Highlander Ryan Merritt is one jump closer to the show as the Cleveland Indians assigned the lefty to its Triple-A club, the Columbus Clippers.

Merritt has started twice so far for the Clips. In his first start, he threw six innings, allowing three earned runs.

He followed that quality start with another dandy, going six innings again and allowing only two runs.

After getting called up to the New York Mets for the second time this season, ex-Baylor Bear Logan Verrett will start in place of Matt Harvey Sunday, his first in the majors.

The rookie Verrett has made 11 relief appearances between the Mets and the Rangers this season.

He will pitch in Colorado, known for its higher elevations. But Verrett’s final two minor league starts have come at higher elevations as well in Salt Lake City and El Paso.
