The MCC men's golf team opened the fall 2017 season with a third-place finish at the Andrews Collegiate/Amateur Invitational at the par-72, 6,506-yard Andrews County Club in Andrews, Texas. The Highlanders shot 286-279 – 565 during the two-day event to finish eight stokes behind first-place Midland, 276-281 – 557.

Freshman Mathias Lorentzen shot 68-70 – 138 to lead the MCC squad and finish in fourth place individually. Other McLennan scores: sophomore Alex Isakson, eighth, 70-70 – 140; sophomore Judd Tilson, tied for ninth, 74-68 – 142; sophomore Micah Goulas, tied for 12th, 74-71 – 145; sophomore July Latimer, 32nd, 74-83 – 157; and sophomore Brendan Johnson, tied for 33rd, 82-76 – 158.

MCC's next tournament is the NJCAA Division I National Preview, Oct. 16-17, The Rawls Course in Lubbock.
