University of Texas senior Will Chandler garnered a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships last weekend in Iowa City, Iowa.
The former Midway standout competed in the 1-meter, the 3-meter and the platform events at the NCAA meet. Though he didn’t place in the platform or 1-meter, his fifth-place effort in the 3-meter event was a career-best showing for the All-American.
Chandler scored 471.35 points, connectiing for a 96.6-point second dive on a challenging four-and-a-half somersault. On his fifth dive, he scored 88.4 points on an inward three-and-a-half somersault.
Chandler’s effort was part of a dominant showing by the Longhorns, who won their 11th NCAA team title.
