Copperas Cove offensive lineman J.P. Urquidez signed with the University of Texas on Saturday after getting his release from Baylor on Thursday.

Urquidez became the second signee in Baylor’s 2016 class to sign with Texas in the past week following Sachse receiver Devin Duvernay. The 6-6, 300-pound Urquidez was ranked No. 155 in ESPN’s national top 300 and No. 17 among offensive tackles in the 2016 class.

Urquidez was among five players Baylor released their National Letter of Intent on Thursday.

The other players included La Vega defensive back Parrish Cobb, Port Arthur Memorial running back Kameron Martin, Silsbee offensive lineman Patrick Hudson and Sachse defensive back Donovan Duvernay.
