Four-star defensive end Brandon Bowen of Byron Nelson High School has been granted his scholarship release from Baylor and is free to sign elsewhere, Baylor assistant athletic director of communications Heath Nielsen confirmed Thursday.
Bowen becomes the 11th member of Baylor’s 22-player signing class to leave the school.
Bowen (6-5, 233) committed to Baylor in January, then made his pledge official on signing day. But like many of the top players in the Bears’ class, he requested his release following the ouster of Art Briles as head coach.
Bowen held scholarship offers from a slew of schools when he originally committed, and reportedly also considered Oregon and Oklahoma.
