Rowlett High School punter-kicker Drew Galitz made a verbal commitment to Baylor on Tuesday night after de-committing from Miami.
Galitz has been rated one of the top senior kickers in the country, and is the 12th verbal commitment in Baylor’s 2015 class.
Galitz delivered outstanding performances at Kohl’s camps for kickers and punters, including the 2013 Texas Showcase Camp.
“Kickers are a completely different entity,” Rowlett coach Doug Stephens said. “They go to all these kicking camps and they see what they can do. He’s a dual guy and that makes him different. He kicks well and is an exceptional punter.”
Last season, Galitz primarily handled kickoff duties for Rowlett while also doing some punting. Stephens said Galitz will punt for Rowlett this year and share kicking duties with Josh Williams.
Since Baylor redshirt freshman Chris Callahan has just taken over place kicking duties this season, Galitz could be in line to handle Baylor’s future punting since Spencer Roth is a senior. Roth has punted for Baylor for four years and received all-Big 12 honors after averaging 45.8 yards per punt last season.
