Former Baylor athletic director Tom Stanton will be inducted into the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame on May 4 at the Abilene Civic Center.
Stanton was Baylor’s athletic director from 1995-2003 and is currently president and CEO of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Foundation.
He played basketball and baseball at both Abilene Cooper High School and Baylor, and once scored 50 points in a high school basketball game. At Baylor, he earned three basketball letters and two baseball letters.
Former Baylor football player Jim Taylor will be inducted posthumously into the Big Country Hall of Fame. After playing at Clyde High School, he played center and linebacker for Baylor before he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1956 NFL draft.
Headlining the class is former Jim Ned High School quarterback Colt McCoy who starred for the Texas Longhorns and is now playing for the Washington Redskins.
