Baylor volleyball’s Yossiana Pressley, Shelly Fanning, Hannah Lockin, Aniah Philo and Shanel Bramschreiber have been invited to attend the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts, taking place March 2-4 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Doesn’t matter the sport — basketball, volleyball, wrestling. Anytime you venture into Iowa State’s Hilton Coliseum — home of “Hilton Magic,” as the locals say — and escape with a win, you kind of feel like you pulled off a magic trick yourself.

Baylor’s volleyball team will shoot for its second win over a ranked opponent this year when it faces No. 20 Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Baylor volleyball coach Ryan McGuyre is a man who appreciates the scriptures, so he’s probably familiar with Isaiah, chapter 11, verse 6: “The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together … and a little child shall lead them.”

With Katie Staiger and Shelley Fanning combining for 28 kills, the Baylor volleyball team blasted visiting LSU, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14, 26-24, on Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center.

Coming off arguably its most impressive win of the season, the Baylor volleyball team will host another strong opponent when LSU comes to Waco on Wednesday.

HONOLULU — Baylor’s volleyball team twice won two of the first three sets, but ultimately couldn’t finish off Hawaii, as the Rainbow Wahine took an 18-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-17, 16-14 win late Friday night at the Outrigger Resorts Challenge.
