Baylor shortstop Nick Loftin made the most of his invitation to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team’s training camp.

Three Baylor athletes have been named Big 12 Spring Scholar-Athletes of the Year, the conference announced Thursday. Senior pitcher Kyle Hill won the honor for baseball, junior Colin Kober for men’s golf, and senior Jimmy Bendeck for men’s tennis.

Before the bus arrived that would carry them on to Oklahoma City, Baylor’s baseball players gathered on Monday morning to get their luggage ready to go. After making a pile with the bags, someone pulled out a karaoke machine. At one point, the players coaxed Cole Weaver take the mic and spit some rhymes. In addition to being a recent Baylor graduate and a recently commissioned U.S. Army lieutenant, Weaver is a budding rapper as well.

The day began with a variety of emotional video greetings, as Baylor honored its six seniors on its final home Sunday of the season. One of those videos even featured a message from pop superstar Elton John, as Josh Bissonette’s dad Matt is currently overseas playing bass for the singer.

FORT WORTH — During an eight-run third inning, Baylor’s Shea Langeliers crushed a three-run homer over the left-field fence with such force that TCU is lucky he didn’t tear a hole in the massive outfield scoreboard.
