No doubt about it. Joanna and Chip Gaines, owners of a local construction and renovation outfit called Magnolia Homes, charmed TV viewers beyond Waco when they were featured in HGTV’s pilot episode of “Fixer Upper” this spring, so we’re not surprised they’ve been tapped for 12 more episodes. We marveled at Chip’s industriousness and adoration of his wife — and how Joanna raises four kids while solving a lot of the design problems that arise on the job.

They aim to remodel three homes every seven weeks, allowing them to get enough episodes in the can for shows to begin airing in March.

The couple renovated a home in Castle Heights for the big pilot. We hope they now get to tackle such projects in other neighborhoods, if only to better show off Waco. We’d love to see at least one show done in North Waco, which might offer some suspense but lots of community spirit as well, especially if some of the proud folks we know there appear as “guest stars.”
