Richard Gonzales

July 13, 1957 - Feb. 12, 2015

Richard Gonzales, 57, of Waco passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Cyril Ejaidu as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., and Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., Sunday, February 15, at Brazos Funeral Home.

Richard was born in Waco, Texas, July 13, 1957, to Joe and Eva Gonzales. He graduated from University High School in 1976. He was a long time employee at TYMCO, Inc. and Central Freight Lines.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Joe Gonzales Jr.

Richard was a devoted father and husband, who enjoyed spending time on the farm, watching the Dallas Cowboys with loved ones, sitting around a campfire with the people he enjoyed most, and helping others. He was known as "Uncle Rick" to his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved making jokes and teasing everyone, especially family. He smoked a mean brisket and grilled an amazing rib eye. Heaven will be fed well. Rick and Joe, his dad, will continue to wrap their protective arms around us from Heaven with a smile.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; his two sons, Joseph and Justin; mother, Eva Gonzales; father and mother-in-law, Refugio and Manuela Martinez; sisters, Rebecca Gonzales and husband, David Garcia, Diana "DeeDee" Gonzales and Charles Hurtado; in-laws: Diana and Scott Thomas, Toni Michelle and Eddy Contreras; Fernando and Donna Martinez, and Mark Martinez; extended family members and friends; and "Eva" his K-9 companion.Pallbearers are Marcelino Medina, Wendell Jones, Anthony Gonzales, Rick Bridger, Robert Tinsley, Dennis Carrizales, Chip Burnett and Nick Pustejovsky.In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Waco Independent School District's Homeless Outreach.
