An unidentified person was killed by gunfire Sunday night as Waco police responded to two shootings, Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Officers responded at about 9:40 p.m. to a call of gunshots around the 2300 block of Park Avenue, he said, where they discovered blood and bullet casings. At least one person was hospitalized, it was learned.

As officers were on scene, they heard multiple gunshots coming from near South 26th Street and Dutton Avenue, Swanton said.

Police responded to the location and found more bullet casings, he said.

The shootings are thought to be related, Swanton said, though further details were not immediately available.

Meanwhile, police were told a gunshot victim was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center and died, Swanton said.

A second victim was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, Swanton said, and the police investigation is ongoing.
