double death ra7

Waco police believe two cousins killed at the Pecan Tree apartments Tuesday morning did not live there and that the apartment or the individuals there were targeted in an attack.

Two cousins were identified Wednesday as the victims of what police are calling a “targeted double homicide” at the Pecan Tree Apartments in Waco.

Justin Javier Gonzalez, 24, and Ulysses Gonzalez, 30, both of Waco, were found dead when officers responded to a possible shooting in the 2600 block of Grim Avenue about 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Justice of the Peace W.H. “Pete” Peterson said the men were found shot to death on the living room floor of an upstairs apartment.

Peterson ordered autopsies on the men, Swanton said.

Swanton said neither man lived in the complex and that they were visiting a friend.

He declined to identify the friend or provide any information about people of interest in the case.

There have been no arrests.

“We believe there was a reason they were there and there’s a reason it was that apartment, a reason that at least one of the individuals was killed,” Swanton said Tuesday.

He declined to comment further on possible motives for the attack.
