A man was arrested Tuesday morning after Woodway Public Safety’s SWAT team executed a “no knock” search warrant at his home on the 10000 block of Townridge Drive in Woodway, officials said.
Mark Chernoff, 31, was charged with one count of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance after officers found about 50 pills and syringes at about 6:30 a.m., Assistant Woodway Public Safety Chief Bret Crook said.
The search was the result of a multi-agency investigation involving the Drug Enforcement Agency and the McGregor Police Department after police suspected “illicit narcotic activity” was occurring at Chernoff’s residence, Crook said.
Crook said the “no knock” warrant was executed because Chernoff has previous convictions and owns firearms.
The warrant was the result of surveillance, intelligence and a financial investigation into Chernoff’s activities, Crook said,
He noted more searches are being conducted on other properties related to Chernoff in the Waco area but would not elaborate except to say officers are anticipating more charges against Chernoff could be filed in the coming weeks.
