The death of an AT&T employee Friday, which was originally thought to be an accident, was caused by violent acts and is now being investigated as a murder case, according to Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton.

On Friday, police believed Kenneth Wayne Cleveland, 61, of Hewitt, was electrocuted while on a ladder near the 1400 block of Barron Avenue, Swanton said. Police are now investigating the case as a homicide after the subsequent inquiry turned up additional evidence. Swanton said Cleveland was an AT&T repairman.

The additional investigation at the scene and information from a medical examiner indicate the death was from “violent injuries” and was not work-related, Swanton said.

Police are looking for information in the case.
