Three employees at the Methodist Children’s Home were presented Secretary of Defense Patriot Awards for their support of an employee who is a military service member.
The awards are presented by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense agency located at Camp Mabry in Austin. Its primary mission is to support fellow National Guardsmen and all of the U.S. military reserve branches and local civilian employers, who are in support of service members.
Employers are nominated by a service member who works directly under their supervision.
Senior Airman Erica Estrada, who is assigned to the 433rd Security Forces Squadron, a reserve unit at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, nominated three of her immediate supervisors at Methodist Children’s Home: Rhonda Anderson, Jason Jackson and Morgan Lyons to receive the Secretary of Defense Patriot Award for their efforts in support of her military status and mission whenever she is called to duty .
Estrada noted in her nomination for the Secretary of Defense Patriot Award how each of her supervisors helped her with adjusting her schedule, making sure she had enough hours or offered overtime and kept in contact with her and her family.
