MLK winners

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. awarded prizes to essay and poster contest winners at the 22nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Peace March on Jan. 15.

The essay and poster theme was “We Are One.” Winners were from schools through McLennan County.

Essay winners were Kaitlyn Mock, of Robinson High School, first place; Sophie Brignac, of Robinson High School, second place; and Jesse Smith, of Robinson High School, third place.

Poster winners were Joemi Carrera, of Cesar Chavez Middle School; first place, Arizeah Botello, of Cesar Chavez Middle School, second place; Alejandra Gonzalez, of La Vega Junior High School, third place; Laticia Macias, of Cesar Chavez Middle School, fourth place; and Calla Carlson, of Rapoport Academy, fifth place.

Chairpersons for the contests were Alice Pollard, DeNisha Rembert, Terrance McNair, Terron Benson and Miles Johnson.
