Lorena High School student Kolby Kayworth was crowned Miss Waco’s Outstanding Teen 2014 at the Miss Waco Scholarship Pageant Jan. 18 in the Midway Performing Arts Center.

Baylor University student Madison Adams, of Fort Worth, was chosen as Miss Waco 2014 in the pageant, which is a local preliminary to the Miss Texas and Miss America Pageant.

Kolby is the daughter of Dr. Tim and Deana Kayworth.

Guests included Miss Texas 2012 (and Baylor alum) DaNae Couch and singer Holly Tucker, who was a top-six finalist in Season 4 of “The Voice.”

The contestants, ages 13 to 24, competed in the areas of talent, interview, fitness for teens, physical fitness in swimsuit for Miss, evening wear and onstage question-and-answer.

This year’s theme was “Boots, Bling and Big Dreams” and was inspired by Jacqi Martinez, who custom-designed the Jacqi Bling boots Tucker wore on “The Voice.”

Tucker’s boots have a pageant connection. Miss Texas 2012 DaNae Couch, who is a Baylor graduate, introduced her boot sponsor to Leslie Lawrence Rogers, executive director of the Miss Waco Scholarship Organization. Rogers then connected her to Tucker, which led to the boots’ appearance on “The Voice.”

Jacqi Bling boots were on the stage during the pageant.
