Matt J. Woodward, a 2005 Midway High School graduate, received a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Memphis on Aug. 6.

He and his wife, Jenni, who were married June 23, will both be associate professors at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Matt is the son of Matt and Janine Woodward, of Woodway.

Students named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Dallas in Irving are: Anastasia Heiser, of Hillsboro; and Nicolas Hovde, of Waco.

Students named to the honor roll for the spring semester at the University of Dallas in Irving are: Kennedy Bradley, of Groesbeck; Garrett Meske, of Waco; Jennifer Vizner, of Woodway; and Gabriel Zayas, of Hewitt.

In the military

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Christopher W. Sharp, a 2017 graduate of Connally High School, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

He is the son of Thelessa A. Sharp, of Waco.

Pitching in

Baylor Libraries have secured a $100,000 grant from the Moody Foundation to begin renovations and upgrades to the first floor of the Moody Memorial Library.

The library will celebrate its 50th anniversary as Baylor University’s main campus library in 2018.

The building’s interior will be revitalized with the creation of an innovative instructional learning space complete with flexible furnishings, upgraded interiors and the latest in instructional technology.

Work on the instructional learning space is expected to begin during the fall semester
