Hope and Believe Pediatric Therapy and Central Christian Church are hosting a Sensory Santa event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 4901 Lake Shore Drive.
The event is free and will include a bounce house, face painting, crafts, cookie decorating, games, visiting with Angel Paws therapy dogs, and snacks. Santa will be available for pictures from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will be wheelchair accessible and sensory friendly. All ages and abilities are welcome.
The McLennan Hill Chapter of the Czech Heritage Society will have a Czech Christmas party from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the West Community Center, 200 Tokio Road in West.
Christmas carols and Czech traditions will be showcased. The public is invited and urged to bring a side or dessert dish and a gift for the gift exchange.
Hillcrest blood drive
Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center will have a blood drive from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 in the hospital’s Joel Allison Auditorium, 100 Hillcrest Medical Blvd. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Dianelle Manalo at 202-4805.
Free 2nd recycling cart
As part of its participation in America Recycles Day, the city of Waco will no longer charge a $4 monthly fee for residents to have a second blue recycling cart. The fee remains in place for a second gray trash cart and a second green yard waste cart.
To get a second blue cart or to learn more about recycling, call 299-2612 or go to waco-texas.com. Waco residents can also go to 501 Schroeder Drive and pick a cart up. Anyone can use the Cobbs Drive Convenience Center for recycling most household items.
The Waco Sons of Confederate Veterans will meet at Tuesday at Poppa Rollo’s Pizza, 703 N. Valley Mills Drive.
A meal will start at 6 p.m., and Waco Camp member Markham Dossett will speak at 7 p.m. about “Col. Ben Risher and the Confederate Mail System.”
