Speegleville Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate Fourth of July with a fireworks event from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at Freedom of God Ministries, 170 Branson Trail.

The event will include bounce houses, face painting, a silent auction, a cake walk, games, music and food. It will conclude with a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.

Robinson food pantry

Shepherd’s Heart Robinson Food Pantry, 106 W. Lyndale Drive in Robinson, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday for residents in need of supplemental food.

All clients must be prepared to complete a new registration form and show proof of residency (driver’s license, state ID or water bill with client’s name).

WW II exhibit/fun day

Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum, 315 W. Ave. B in Temple, will have a free family day event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The World War II-themed event is being held in conjunction with the museum’s summer exhibit, “Victory Rails: American Railroads in World War II,” which will be on display through Aug. 27 and features World War II-era photographs and posters, along with military artifacts from the museum’s collection.

Following the event, at 2 p.m., Stephanie Long, who curated the “Victory Rails” exhibit, will present a free lecture about the challenges the U.S. railroads faced in World War II and their importance to the war effort.

Mooreville UMC BBQ

Mooreville United Methodist Church, 206 Farm-to-Market Road 2643 in Chilton, will have its annual barbecue fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Cost is $10 per plate.

Indoor and outdoor seating will be available, as well as take-out plates.

A live auction will be conducted at 6 p.m.

Casey Reynolds, state extension turfgrass specialist and assistant professor at Texas A&M University, will present a lawn care seminar from 1 to 5 p.m. July 20 in Whitehall Center at the Carleen Bright Arboretum, 9001 Bosque Blvd.

Cost is $10.

The McLennan County Master Gardeners are sponsoring the program.
