BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida high school student has been arrested for threatening to shoot his classmates.

The Bradenton Herald reports that the 15-year-old boy was arrested Thursday at Bayshore High School in Manatee County.

The sheriff's office says a teacher and classmates overheard the student talking about himself as a prospective shooter. When the teacher told him to stop, investigators say the boy pointed around the classroom and made shooting noises.

A school resource officer responded to the classroom and ensured that the student was unarmed. The student was then arrested and transported to juvenile detention. It's unclear what charges, if any, have been filed against the student, whose identity was not immediately released by authorities.
