As the Tribune-Herald reported Wednesday, Austin-based SCC Development wants to bring an In-N-Out Burgers restaurant to Waco and is negotiating to place it at Valley Mills and Lake Air drives, where it will demolish the old Richard Karr Motors building.
In fact, In-N-Out Burgers already appears on a “preliminary” site plan for that location that is viewable at the SCC website: http://bit.ly/R0SbKa
But as several readers have mentioned in response to our story, that graphic also shows space being set aside for a Del Taco eatery and a user called Natural Grocers.
Are they also destined to appear on that 4.4-acre corner, courtesy of SCC Development?
Kelly Shaw, a principal with the company, emphatically says “no.”
“Those particular names are old news, and we are not involved in negotiations with them,” he said. “We need to take them off the site.”
Shaw told the Trib that SCC hopes to entice enough retailers and restaurants to fill about 25,000 square feet.
He has not established a timeline for getting that done, but has hired a big-time real estate marketing firm - Chicago-based Jones/Lang/LaSalle — to assist with the task.
