Name the Famous Texans: Week 4

Depression-era outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow both were native Texans. Bonnie was born in Rowena and Clyde in Ellis County, near Telico.

Another Waco-area resident gets national television exposure Monday night, Feb. 2, thanks to an unusual inheritance: guns worn by 1930s gangster Bonnie Parker when she and her partner Clyde Barrow were killed in a law enforcement ambush May 23, 1934.

The guns — a .38 snub-nosed revolver and a .45 Colt semi-automatic that Bonnie had strapped to her leg — got Earl Davis on Monday’s episode of the Fox Business Network’s new reality show “Strange Inheritance,” hosted by Jamie Colby.

Davis’s father had purchased the guns in 1986 when they were auctioned off by the family of Frank Hamer, the ex-Texas Ranger who tracked the violent bank-robbing pair and set up the Louisiana ambush that killed them.

The episode was filmed in Waco and at the Huntsville Prison Museum in Huntsville.

“Strange Inheritance” airs at 8:30 p.m. Central Time on Time Warner Cable channel 90, Grande channel 121, DirecTV channel 359 and DISH Network channel 206.
