Tabitha Schuerg

Corporate Financial Assistant, Extraco Corporation
Waco Today

Tabitha rides a 1998 Harley-Davidson® Road King. “Growing up in a family that rides motorcycles, I’ve ridden most of my life. But, I bought my first motorcycle back in 2001 when I was 20 years old. It was a 1996 Harley-Davidson Sportster,” she said. Tabitha said she loves the thrill of being out there in the open spaces.  “Riding to me is one of the most relaxing things I can do and it frees my mind from the stresses of life,” she said with a sigh.  When asked about her favorite essential biker gear, Tabitha said “My husband, Justin, of course.” Her best-ever ride was back in 2001. “A group of us took a memorial ride in honor of my godfather, James Wolfe, also known as ‘Chopper.’ We rode through the Hill Country to Luckenbach, where we all hung out under the huge oak trees.  We stayed the night in Fredricksburg and the next day on our way home, we rode the Willow City Loop.  This by far is the most beautiful and memorable ride I’ve even been on.” Tabitha’s favorite dinner destination: George’s. Her fave sunset ride: To Cranfills Gap.

Mary Abrahams

Associate Director, The John F. Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship in the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University
Waco Today

Mary rides a ride a black 2007 Harley-Davidson® Dyna Glide with a DFT Trike Conversion kit. Her first Harley was a 2003 Anniversary Edition Sportster Hugger. In 2005, she bought a 1997 Sportster 1200 trike and then bought the 07 Dyna in 2007. Mary said the best part about being on the road is the complete freedom from computers, phones, faxes or drop-in visits. “It’s just me and my thoughts (or occasional songs sung out loud). It’s also the opportunity to share something that both my husband and I love doing,” she said. Mary’s favorite trip was to Mother Neff Park for the wedding of two friends who had met through the Harley Owners Group. “They were married in the open-air pavilion on a very cold morning in April. We were dressed in full leathers and drove our bikes in under the pavilion, using them to create the altar space for the ceremony,” she said. Her essential biker gear includes her H.A.D. headwear. “It converts into 12 different accessories, including all-weather face and neck covering, scarf, do-rag, ponytail holder, hair band, cap, and in a pinch, tube top or skirt — although I have never tried it,” she laughed. Favorite dinner destination: Hog Creek Ice House. Nice ride, easy access and great atmosphere. Favorite sunset ride: The ride from Waco to Marble Falls on Hwy 281 is beautiful during bluebonnet season, or as it was one weekend in April 2007 when the fields were covered with bluebonnets and snow.

Marta Aguirre (Marty)

Recovery specialist, Grande Communications
Waco Today

Marty looks so fine on her electric blue and white 2006 Harley-Davidson® Delux. She started riding in 2005 and bought her first bike the same year. She said she rides to fulfill her need for tranquility and independence. “And the rush of being out on the open road is great, too,” she added. Marty remembers a ride through the hills of Bandera, Texas as one of her most memorable rides. “Texas has some of the most beautiful sunsets,” she beamed. Black leather jackets and boots are some of Marty’s favorite biker accessories. Favorite dinner destination: Texas Roadhouse. Favorite sunset ride: Highway 53 to Temple.

Alexis M. Marks

Grad student in Clinical Psychology, Baylor University; part-time mental health counselor, Limestone County; web designer for YellowWebMonkey (which is what pays the bills, she said)
Waco Today

Alexis is cool on her dark blue and pearl 2009 Harley-Davidson® Sportster 883 Low. And, she’s Harley newbie, purchasing her first bike in November 2008. “I used to be in the Army and was feeling rather geeky as a doctoral student, so I figured being a biker chick would help,” she said. Alexis gets out on the road to clear her head. “Even though I work as a counselor, riding is my therapy. It helps me leave everything else behind and just enjoy the moment,” she said. She loves her black and pink H-D leather jacket. “It looks good, has vents in it and has a ton of pockets to put my stuff. You can’t exactly bring a purse when riding,” she laughed. Alexis dropped her bike the first day she got it — right at the H-D dealership. “Everyone looked worried and I just started laughing and said, “Well at least I got THAT out of the way!” (She’s never dropped it since, she said.) Favorite dinner destination: Crickets. Fave sunset ride: Headed south on 317 towards Lake Belton.
