The Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame will honor its class of 2013 inductees at the 33rd annual induction ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. The 2013 inductees are Cathy Beene, Bobby Kleinecke, Kathy Langer and Ken McAllister.
Cathy Beene, a native of Kingsville, won the UTSA-AIAW national doubles championship in 1973. That year, Beene also turned professional and went on to play in the Avon professional circuit from 1977-78.
Bobby Kleinecke, a native of Galveston, won five Missouri Valley Conference singles and doubles titles at West Texas State. In 2003, Kleinecke was named Big 12 Coach of the Year at Texas A&M.
Michigan native Kathy Langer began playing tennis at the age of 33 while teaching the game to high school students. In 2013, Langer won 75 doubles matches in the European championships in Porschach, Austria, making her No. 1 in doubles in the ITF world ranking.
Ken McAllister of San Angelo has taught over 30 state and nationally ranked players. In 1976 and 1980 McAllister was named Texas Pro of the Year, and has been a USPTA Master Professional since 1987.
