The state’s lawmakers are set to pay homage to the touchdown makers.
The Texas Sports Hall of Fame will be recognized on the floor of both the Texas House and Senate on Thursday, during their legislative sessions. The museum will be formally recognized by legislators as the state’s official hall of fame, with all the responsibilities and privileges that title bears.
Ed Page, chairman of the Hall’s board of trustees, said the board was “thrilled” to receive such recognition, while the museum’s executive director Cooper Jones admitted to being “humbled and honored.”
In addition to museum staff and Hall of Fame board members, several past Hall of Famers will take part in the recognition. Those include former Texas A&M and NFL football great Dave Elmendorf (Class of 2017), former University of Texas and NBA point guard T.J. Ford (2016), former Aggie and Seattle Seahawks defensive star Jacob Green (2015), Heisman Trophy-winning running back Ricky Williams (2012) and former A&M football coach R.C. Slocum (2006).
