Off-road triathlon starts at 8:30 this morning
The XTERRA South Central championship off-road triathlon will be held at 8:30 a.m. today at Cameron Park.
The race features a one-mile swim in the Brazos River, a 15-mile mountain bike ride and a six-mile trail run. Off-road triathletes from all over the world will compete, including current U.S. Pro Series women’s leader Shonny Vanlandingham and men’s leader Conrad Stoltz, a seven-time champion.
Additionally, a half-distance off-road triathlon will begin at 8 a.m. The event will be headquartered at the Redwood Shelter.
Cameron Park Drive, from Herring Avenue to Park Lake Drive, will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free to spectators. Parking will be available in the Pecan Bottoms area of the park.
