With a combined record of 7-0 between them, the McLennan Community College women’s and men’s basketball teams will look to keep the winning going on Wednesday at Angelina.
The Highlassies are 3-0 on the year, including an 88-82 win over Angelina in the season opener last Wednesday. Reigning conference player of the year Velma Mitchell is off to a hot start again, averaging a team-best 16.3 points per game, while fellow sophomore Shankia Clark is putting up 16 per outing.
The 23rd-ranked Highlanders are 4-0 and are averaging 108.8 points per game on 60.7 percent shooting. Antoine Banks, a freshman guard from Maryland, leads a balanced MCC team in scoring at 15 points per game, while freshman Xavier Armstead from Midway is hitting for 13.8 points on 63.3 percent shooting.
Game times will be 5:30 p.m. for the women and 7:30 for the men in Lufkin.
