McLennan Community College’s men’s golf team take their No. 1 ranking to New Mexico to compete in the Sonny Wiginton Intercollegiate tournament at the New Mexico Military Institute Golf Course in Roswell. The tournament begins Saturday and concludes Sunday.
The Highlanders won the Claud Jacobs Invitational in Victoria, Texas, Sunday and Monday, with an overall score of 899 for three rounds of play. They made up a 14-hole deficit against Midland College, and won the tournament on a final round team-score layoff. Freshman Matt Lorentzen was the leading individual player, finishing fourth with a final score of 220.
