The No. 23 McLennan Community College men’s basketball team is hitting the road before Thanksgiving, and its destination is against a team in which the Highlanders have found recent success.

MCC (8-1), winners of three straight, travels to Lancaster to face Cedar Valley College (3-4, 2-1 at home) Tuesday at 3 p.m. It’s series the Highlanders have dominated as of late, winning three straight against the Suns by a combined 29 points.

The Suns’ best player is 6’5” forward JF Thomas Jr. The sophomore has appeared in four games for Cedar Valley, averaging 23.5 points, including a 36 point game in his 2017 debut. Former La Vega standout Amariye Blunson is quietly having a decent year for the Suns, dropping just under eight points per game.

The Highlanders are led by Midway’s Xaiver Armstead, a freshman averaging 14 points. Others scoring in double digits are Jashawn Talton (13 ppg) and Antoine Banks (12 ppg).

After Thanksgiving, the Highlanders return to action Nov. 26 at Concordia J.V. for a 1 p.m. tip.
