OKLAHOMA CITY — The McLennan Community College women’s golf team made sure their fall season ended with a silver lining.

MCC picked up a second-place finish at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic on Tuesday. The Highlassies shot rounds of 295, 295 and 312 for a total score of 902 at the par-72 Lincoln Park Golf Course.

That score was just 15 strokes behind overall champion Texas Wesleyan (298-285-304-887). MCC and Dodge City (Kan.) were the only two-year schools in the field.

Sophomore Joely Henderson led the Highlassies through the three rounds, shooting 73-74-79 – 226 to finish in seventh place individually. Alejandra Rodriguez was eighth at 77-71-79 – 229.
