SHERMAN — The McLennan Community College softball team split a doubleheader with Grayson on Wednesday. The Highlassies powered to an 11-1 run-rule win in the opener, but dropped the finale, 5-4.

Victoria Vasquez allowed just three hits in the opening win. She had plenty of run support, as MCC smashed 14 hits, led by Emeri Eubanks with a 3-for-4 outing. Cassie Pavlas went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

The Highlassies (9-2, 5-1) put together a four-run second inning in the second game. But Grayson rallied to tie the game and eventually took the lead on Alexus White’s solo home run in the fifth.

MCC will be back in action Saturday, hosting Weatherford in a noon doubleheader.
