CORPUS CHRISTI — The McLennan Community College women’s golf team wrapped up its season-opening action at the Islander Classic at the par-72 Corpus Christi Golf Club on Tuesday. The Highlassies finished 10th in the 11-team field, as the only two-year program competing.

MCC shot rounds of 322, 334 and 336 for a 992 total. St. Mary’s won the tournament at 302-301-310 – 913.

For the Highlassies, sophomore Alejandra Rodriguez carded rounds of 78, 80 and 82 for a three-round total of 240, finishing in a tie for 28th. MCC’s next action will come at the Rio Grande Valley Invitational March 5-6 in McAllen.
