McLennan Community College baseball hosts Midland College Friday at the Bosque River Ballpark at 2 p.m. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at noon and 3 p.m., also at the Bosque River Ballpark.

The sixth-ranked Highlanders have a 4-0 record, all their wins coming against Angelina College. MCC’s pitching has been overpowering, allowing only two runs. While the pitching has been outstanding, the hitting has also been a source of pride, having scored 38 runs. The closest game was a 4-1 win over seven innings.

Friday’s game will be Midland’s first of the season. Last year’s Chaparral team posted a 40-19 record. They went 1-2 in the Region V tournament, losing to Odessa College in an elimination game. Head coach Hector Rodriguez takes the reins for the first time, moving from an assistant under former head coach David Coleman.
