The 14th-ranked McLennan Community College men’s basketball team scored the first 10 points of the game and never relented in a 119-58 beatdown of Concordia University’s JV on Tuesday at The Highlands.
MCC (17-1), which moved from No. 16 to No. 14 in this week’s NJCAA Division I poll, built a 20-point lead by the midpoint of the first half. The Highlanders scored at will throughout the night, extending the gap to 63-21 by halftime and assuring a 12th straight victory.
Freshman Antoine Banks drilled seven 3-pointers for MCC on his way to a game-leading 25 points. Fellow freshmen Jordan Skipper-Brown and Marquez Cooper scored 15 and 12 points, respectively. Freshman Garrett Shaw added 11 and sophomore Daniel Pinho Severo chipped in 10.
The game marked the final nonconference tuneup for MCC, which will open up conference action on Saturday at home against Ranger.
