A bad snap on a punt on Marlin’s first possession gave Connally two points, and it wasn’t until the third quarter that Marlin went ahead. Quarterback Fred Fondren picked out running back Andre Lowe, who took the toss 82 yards for the go-ahead score.
Oscar Pena then kicked a 23-yard field goal with about three minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Marlin held Connally to 16 yards passing and 74 rushing.
