KILLEEN — Midway isn’t just No. 1 — the Pantherettes are No. 1 with a bullet.

The Midway volleyball team, which recently ascended to the top spot in MaxPreps’ national volleyball computer rankings and has held the No. 1 spot in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll for several weeks, dominated in a sweep of Killeen, 25-8, 25-14, 25-5, on Tuesday night for its 21st consecutive victory.

Samantha Sanders and Miranda Youmans smashed 13 kills apiece to top the Pantherettes’ attack. TCU commit Allye Beth Deaton tagged nine kills to go with 21 digs and two service aces. Callie Williams delivered 33 assists.

Midway (29-2 overall, 2-0 in District 8-6A) hasn’t dropped a set in any of its last four wins. The Pantherettes will face Killeen Ellison on Friday.

Crawford 3, Valley Mills 0

The 10th-ranked Lady Pirates kept up their winning ways with a sweep of the Lady Eagles, 25-12, 25-16, 25-18.

Former Super Centex setter standout Haley Vaughn directed the offense with 37 assists, and also tallied six kills, nine digs and five aces. Caitlin Plemons ripped a team-high 10 kills for Crawford (21-7 overall, 2-0 in District 13-2A), and Morgan Claxton had nine kills and three blocks.

Lorena 3, La Vega 0

The 20th-ranked Lady Leopards claimed their fifth straight win, taking down La Vega, 25-10, 25-18, 25-19.

Maddie Miller was superb on the back-row defense, scooping up 26 digs. Ashlynn Sorrells fed her teammates to the tune of 26 assists, while Heidi Scarbrough and Jacey Moore each had five kills for Lorena (25-6 overall, 3-0 in District 17-4A).

West 3, McGregor 0

At West, the Lady Trojans pulled out tight wins in each set to turn back the Lady Bulldogs, 25-21, 25-20, 25-22.

Mia Pokluda paced the attack for West, which improved to 2-0 in District 19-3A. Next up for West is a raod contest with Whitney on Friday, while McGregor turns its attention to Marlin.
