Fourth-ranked Fairfield fought past the always tough Lady Hornets, 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23, in the Class 4A bi-district volleyball playoffs on Tuesday at University High School.

The victory marked the second of the season by Fairfield over Gatesville (17-17), as the teams met back in August in a tournament. In 2014, Gatesville knocked out Fairfield in the bi-district round.
The Lady Eagles are back in the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2015, as China Spring outlasted them in five sets last year in bi-district play.
