One of the special aspects of the UIL state track meet is that there are no preliminary races. It’s all finals, nothing but finals.

Instead, the prelims will essentially come this weekend. Regional track action will take place Friday and Saturday at various sites across the state, as athletes look to qualify for the UIL state meet May 12-14 in Austin.

Baylor’s Clyde Hart Stadium will serve as the regional host for Class 6A Region II and Class 3A region III, which includes athletes from Midway and Belton in 6A as well as West, Clifton, Teague and others in 3A. Other hotbeds for Central Texas athletes will include the Region III-5A meet and Region III-4A meets in Huntsville, the Region III-2A meet in Palestine and the Region III-1A meet in Stephenville.
