Robinson, a perennial contender for the state tournament in tennis, turned in another nice showing at the District 17-3A tennis tournament over the weekend.
The Robinson girls won the district title, while the Rocket boys shared the team title with China Spring.
In boys’ singles, Jacob Wingate rolled to the championship, losing only two games along the way. In the final, Wingate beat Lorena’s Miles Milliorn, 6-1, 6-0.
China Spring’s Erin White took the girls’ singles title, defeating Robinson’s Courtney Wood, 6-2, 6-1, in the final.
Robinson had both the boys’ and girls’ doubles champions — the boys’ tandem featured Kerry Garriveau and Hunter Goolsby while the girls’ team consisted of Kayla and Savannah Hill-Johnson. China Spring’s team of Brandon and Ashley Allison picked up the mixed doubles trophy.
