AXTELL – Hours of chucking a softball at a mitt led to the best kind of writer’s cramp.
Axtell senior Kathryn Reed signed her letter of intent to play softball for Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday. Reed won Super Centex Newcomer of the Year honors as a freshman in 2015 when she won 16 games and struck out 189 batters.
Last season, Reed went 11-4 for the Lady Longhorns in the circle while hitting .586 with six home runs at the plate.
She was also a standout player for the Centex Buzz select team.
Teague’s Persons to continue softball career on next level
Teague’s Kiley Persons signed her letter of intent to play softball at Harding (Ark.) College this week.
Persons was the 18-3A MVP last year for the Lady Lions as a shortstop. She hit .615 with seven triples, two home runs and 28 RBIs. She was also fearsome on the basepaths, going 37-for-37 on stolen base attempts.
