Robinson’s powerlifting teams grunted their way to a pair of strong finishes at the Fairfield Invitational last week.
Robinson’s boys claimed the team title, while the Rockette girls were second to the host Lady Eagles.
Fairfield’s girls tallied a winning score of 58 points, with five lifters earning first-place finishes in their respective divisions — Alize Lewis, Justice Oates, Madison Schick, Savannah Robinson and Chloe Wilson. For Robinson, Kenzie Lewis and Shelby Kirkpatrick topped their weight classes.
On the boys’ side, Groesbeck’s Stephen King frightened the competition by lifting the best overall total amount of weight at 1,145 pounds. But Robinson grabbed first place as a team with 52 points, as Miguel Contreras, Tanner Dodd, Manuel Rodriguez, Juan Villa, Ricky Thompson and Khalil Washington all powered to first in their weight classes.
