Midway’s girls golf team picked up some hardware on a recent drive down to Killeen, seizing the 8-6A title, while the Panther boys finished second.
The Midway girls carded rounds of 358 and 346 for a 704 total at Killeen’s Stone Tree Golf Club to take the team championship by 14 strokes over second-place Killeen Ellison. Sarah Chung topped Midway with rounds of 82 and 81 for a 163 total, finishing third overall behind Belton’s Julia Garcia (79-73-152) and Kayla McFall of Ellison (84-79-163).
Midway’s Ashley Gage was fourth, shooting 90 and 79 for a 169 total.
For the Midway boys, they fired off a score of 301 in the weather-shortened boys tournament, finishing second to district champ Belton (285). Abilene Christian signee Daniel Seibert led the way for Midway, shooting 72, while Mason Mikeska followed with a 75, Austin May with a 76 and Austin Clark with a 78.
The Region I-6A girls tournament will be April 24-25 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington, while the boys’ regional tourney is set for April 26-27 at Texas Star Golf Course in Euless.
