Bervin Brown Jr. has been hired as the new girls basketball coach at Waco High.

The Waco ISD school board approved the hiring at its meeting last week. Brown comes to Waco from Gainesville High, where he had served as the head girls basketball coach for the past three years. In the 2014-15 season, Brown directed Gainesville to the playoffs for the first time in more than 30 years and picked up a win over second-ranked Celina along the way.

He began his coaching career at Terrell in 1999.

Brown replaces Ross Barber, who left in April for Tyler Lee.
