Two Central Texas girls basketball teams will continue their chase of a state championship this week.
Marlin (31-8) will face Vanderbilt Industrial (34-5) in the Class 3A state semifinals at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Alamodome in San Antonio. If the Lady Bulldogs are able to win that game, they’d play for the 3A state title at 10 a.m. Saturday, against the winner of the other semifinal between Brock (32-6) and Mount Vernon (26-9).
Meanwhile, Temple (31-5) will play in the Class 5A state semifinals at 8:30 p.m. Thursday against Amarillo (38-2). A Tem-Cat victory would send them on to the 5A title game at 3 p.m. Saturday, against the winner of Mansfield Timberview (39-2) and Kerrville Tivy (33-6).
It’s the first state tournament appearance for both Marlin and Temple.
