The Pantherettes used a 30-point fourth quarter to surge from behind and stun the district-leading Lady Eagles at the Panther Arena.
Midway led 27-25 at the half, but Ellison (22-5 overall, 7-1 in 8-6A) took a 40-32 lead into the fourth quarter after limiting the Pantherettes to just five points in the third.
But Midway (23-5, 6-2) exploded down the stretch, cementing its fourth straight win.
La Vega 73, Hillsboro 51
Ta’Naiya Norwood’s 21 points pushed the Lady Pirates over the Lady Eagles in District 17-4A play.
Chariah Jackson supplied 12 points for La Vega (10-12, 6-1), which moved into a tie atop the district standings with Gatesville.
China Spring 49, Gatesville 39 (OT)
The Lady Cougars outscored the No. 8-ranked Lady Hornets 12-2 in overtime, tallying a big win in their quest to reach the postseason.
It marked just the second loss of the year and the first in district play for Gatesville (26-2, 7-1). The Lady Hornets just couldn’t buy a basket at times against a gritty defensive effort from China Spring (14-9, 5-2). Gatesville only had one double-digit quarter, in the fourth.
Abbie Snyder paced the balanced Lady Cougars with 18 points, while Gabrielle Cleveland dropped in 16 and Alex Perkins 12.
Alayna Washington hit for 11 points to lead Gatesville.
Lorena 45, Robinson 28
Steelie Priest showed a steely resolve, swishing in a game-best 17 points to propel the Lady Leopards over their rival Robinson.
Carly Campbell contributed 15 for Lorena (17-8, 3-4), which snapped a two-game losing slide.
Mallory McNew had 13 points for the Rockettes (14-6, 1-5).
Crawford 36, Moody 26
Jeff Ward and Cade Johnston combined for 22 of Crawford’s 36 points, and the Pirates neutralized the Bearcats.
Ward led all scorers with 12, while Johnston added 10.
