Wortham head football coach and athletic director Chris Tobola announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he is stepping down.

Tobola served as the Bulldogs’ head coach for three seasons, recording an 11-19 record and no playoff appearances. Wortham hasn’t reached the postseason since going 7-5 in 2012.

“After careful considerations and discussions with my family I have decided to step down as AD/Head Football Coach at Wortham ISD,” Tobola wrote. “I will consider as a consultant to the Superintendent until a new AD is secured.”

Tobola said he will remain as Wortham’s head softball coach through this season, along with aiding in the transition of a new AD/head football coach.
