BRENHAM — The Trojans used a variety of offerings from the “big play” page in the playbook in spanking Hitchcock in a Class 3A Division I area-round rout.

West (10-2), which moves on to face Rockdale (9-3) in next week’s regional semifinals, blew out to a 28-0 lead by the halftime break. And the Trojans put together some electrifying plays doing it, as three of their four first-half TDs covered 50 yards or more. Those came on a Nathan Gerik 52-yard run and two Gerik-to-Romeo-Hernandez passes, from 57 and 59 yards, respectively.

Kain Klish tacked on a pair of TD runs in the second half for the Trojans.
