PRAIRIE VIEW — T.J. Rumfield found Xavier Johnson on a 43-yard scoring strike with 22 seconds to play, propelling the Wildcats over Memorial and into the Region III-5A final for the fourth straight year.

Temple (10-3) trailed 29-26 following a 25-yard field goal by Memorial’s Kenny Pham with just 54 ticks remaining. But the Wildcats didn’t panic, and Rumfield engineered the game-winning drive in response.

Johnson had a huge night for Temple, as he also had a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a 27-yard TD reception. Memorial was paced by senior quarterback and SMU pledge Keitha Jones, who ran for two touchdowns and threw for another.

Temple will draw Manvel in next week’s regional final.
